2. Case Back of the Watch
If your watch seller is telling you that he is selling you a real Rolex, you need to see the case back. Apart from Rolex Sea-Dweller and some vintage Rolex watches manufactured in the ‘30s, all real Rolex watch has the smooth metal case back.
In case you find a clear backside of the watch, this is a replica Rolex! Rolex believes in refinement and smooth polishing of the watch case back. They do not use any see-through glass at the back. So, a clear case back indicates a fake Rolex. Real Rolex contains a stunning smooth finishing.
3. Crown Etching: Not the Top One!
Replicators do not have the proper craftsmanship that Rolex does. This is one of the points on how to tell if a Rolex is real. Since 2002, the company is making every Rolex with a small crown-etching at the 6 o’ clock. Along with the top large one, this is to create a distinction and exclusiveness for the wearer.
The small etching is too tiny to spot at a first glance. You will need a magnifying glass for spotting it.
